Susie was a case manager for the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare, then an office manager for an Arizona real estate developer.
In no time, her entrepreneurial spirit and love of nature led her to start a landscaping business.
Over the past decade, Susie has been a tireless advocate for educational opportunities for children with special needs. Parents often sought his help and advice.
Susie lived across the street from elementary school and was the mom of choice for forgotten lunches, missed buses, and other childhood “crises”.
His favorite pastime was finding hidden gems in thrift stores and yard sales.
Susie has lived her life reflecting her favorite quote from Mother Teresa: “We can’t all do great things. But we can do small things with a lot of love.”
In addition to her husband, survivors include her son JT, wife Sarah and granddaughter Cameron in Oregon; and his son Travis in Phoenix, Arizona.
From 2007, Susie and John’s life changed dramatically when they adopted three brothers, each as a child. Ryan, 15, Hayden, 12, and BJ, 3, are still at home.
Other survivors include siblings, Patricia Buelow, Luanne (Kurt) Neff, Greg (Susan) Preisel, and Patrick (Marcia) Preisel, all in New Castle; Douglas Preisel in Hawaii; and Chris (Rosemary) Preisel and Diane Fleeger in Scottsdale.
